The motorway section is part of the transport corridor n. 5 of the Trans-European Networks (TEN). The main works to be carried out consist of 5 viaducts, for a total length of 2.5 km, and a double-tube tunnel of 7.5 km in length.
The tunnel, which will become the longest in Slovakia, is part of the new Lietavska Lucka - Visnove - Dubna Skala section of 13.5 of the D1 motorway, which in turn is part of Corridor No. 5 of the TEN network linking Bratislava with Uzhorod in Ukraine and is funded by the Slovak government and the EU.
